Even the most experienced trackers continue to expand their knowledge through their own and others’ experiences, so don’t hesitate to share additional information, observations, questions, or experience.

There are 10 questions in this quiz, some are from the northeastern and midwestern USA, Canada and South Africa. More exact locations are given with the individual questions.

This lodge is made strictly of cattail plants harvested around the lodge. Beaver lodges would be larger and include sticks and trees cut and carried from nearby banks. The height of the structure differentiates it from a muskrat feeding platform.

The yellow jacket nest can be seen as the grey nest in the center of the photo. The black bear dug it up, creating the hole, and scattered parts of the nest around the area. Yellow jackets were still present though the bear had eaten most of the nest with it’s larva.
